{"id":525,"date":"2024-06-23T13:59:59","date_gmt":"2024-06-23T13:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/andreadiantonio.com\/?p=525"},"modified":"2024-06-23T14:06:15","modified_gmt":"2024-06-23T14:06:15","slug":"air-turbulence-what-it-is-and-why-it-is-increasing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andreadiantonio.com\/it\/air-turbulence-what-it-is-and-why-it-is-increasing\/","title":{"rendered":"Turbolenze aeree: cosa sono e perch\u00e9 stanno aumentando"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questo blog \u00e8 stato originariamente scritto per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iltrafiletto.it\">Il Trafiletto<\/a> ed \u00e8 visitabile <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iltrafiletto.it\/approfondimenti\/turbolenze-aeree-cosa-sono-e-perche-stanno-aumentando\/19-80.html\">qui<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nel corso delle ultime due settimane, due voli hanno incontrato turbolenze sufficientemente forti da causare diversi feriti e, in un caso, anche un decesso per sospetto infarto. Ma cos'\u00e8 la turbolenza, e come si forma? Ecco un approfondimento su questo affascinante fenomeno atmosferico che chiunque abbia preso l\u2019aereo ha vissuto almeno una volta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La turbolenza si riferisce ai movimenti irregolari di vortici d\u2019aria che si manifestano tramite variazioni caotiche di velocit\u00e0 e pressione che possono causare oscillazioni e scuotimenti dell'aereo. Un chiaro esempio di turbolenza \u00e8 il fumo di una sigaretta: il suo moto inizialmente laminare, ovvero senza vortici, dopo pochi centimetri inizia a diventare turbolento, creando i tipici vortici e circonvoluzioni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I fenomeni di turbolenza pi\u00f9 comuni che si possono incontrare durante un volo sono la turbolenza convettiva (masse d\u2019aria ascensionali generate dal riscaldamento solare, particolarmente intense sopra superfici riscaldate come citt\u00e0 o deserti), la turbolenza orografica (onde stazionarie nell'atmosfera che si formano quando un flusso d\u2019aria uniforme incontra e scavalca un ostacolo, come le catene montuose, lungo la sua strada) ed il wind shear (forti correnti ascensionali e discensionali che si possono formare nei pressi delle zone temporalesche) e si manifestano a quote relativamente basse. Tuttavia, non sempre \u00e8 possibile associare la turbolenza a condizioni atmosferiche visibili o rilevarla con strumenti. Questo \u00e8 il caso della CAT (Clear Air Turbulence) o turbolenza in aria chiara che si forma quando due strati d\u2019aria con temperature diverse si muovono a velocit\u00e0 differenti e l\u2019interfaccia tra i due strati d\u2019aria crea delle onde nell\u2019aria che, rompendosi, diventano turbolente. \u00c8 proprio questo tipo di turbolenza che hanno incontrato i voli Singapore Airlines SQ321 del 21 maggio ed il Qatar Airways QR017 il 26 maggio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La CAT \u00e8 solitamente pi\u00f9 intensa in presenza di venti molto forti come le correnti a getto: dei \u201cfiumi d\u2019aria\u201d dalla sezione trasversale di qualche decina di chilometri, che si estendono per migliaia di chilometri con venti che spirano da ovest ad est a velocit\u00e0 comprese tra i 150 ed i 400 km\/h. Le correnti a getto si trovano nella troposfera, la regione dell\u2019atmosfera pi\u00f9 vicina alla superficie terrestre, ad una altitudine compresa tra i 6 ed i 12 km, la stessa dei voli di linea. Quando possibile, i piloti di linea che volano da ovest ad est cercano queste correnti per ridurre i tempi di volo ed i consumi. Essendo un tipo di turbolenza poco estesa in verticale, i piloti possono uscire dalla CAT portando l'aereo ad un\u2019altra quota pi\u00f9 in alto o in basso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Secondo l\u2019ultimo studio dell\u2019ente statunitense FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), tra il 2009 ed il 2022 sono state 163 le persone, tra passeggeri e personale di bordo, ad aver subito lesioni gravi a causa delle turbolenze. Questo perch\u00e9 la CAT si manifesta in maniera cos\u00ec improvvisa che \u00e8 molto difficile per i membri dell\u2019equipaggio avvertire i passeggeri di allacciare le cinture di sicurezza, aumentando il rischio di essere sballottati all\u2019interno della cabina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sebbene i feriti a causa della turbolenza non siano una novit\u00e0 nel mondo dell\u2019aviazione, un recente studio dell'Universit\u00e0 di Reading suggerisce che il loro numero \u00e8 destinato ad aumentare. La ricerca indica infatti che la presenza di turbolenza intensa nel Nord Atlantico \u00e8 cresciuta del 55% negli ultimi anni, passando da 17,7 ore nel 1979 a 27,4 ore nel 2020.  Lo studio attribuisce l\u2019aumento della turbolenza ai cambiamenti climatici: l\u2019atmosfera pi\u00f9 calda, a causa delle maggiori emissioni di anidride carbonica, sta incrementando il wind shear all\u2019interno delle correnti a getto, determinando un aumento delle regioni mondiali interessate dalla CAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La turbolenza \u00e8 una parte integrante del volo. I piloti sono addestrati ad affrontarla e gli aerei sono progettati per resisterle.
